I really enjoyed the experience through and through! I feel like the amount of time spent discussing was just the right amount and balanced well with other things like delicious meals, yoga, or personal time. It was a great balance of different ways to help ourselves unwind, relax, de-stress, etc.
I loved the food accommodations. I did not anticipate that simply removing the task of thinking about what to eat and how to procure it, would remove stress. I would also keep the yoga, at first I find myself still racing in my mind but by the end of the session I’m calm and feel more centered. I would honestly add one more day. I understand funding is a battle but I felt after that one full day I was finally chilled out. I also think more bonding activities with the group. After the session I also felt even more connected with my cohort. That sense of companionship also helps me feel like I’m not alone on this journey
The opportunity to interact with other nurses in a supportive, safe environment. Learning self care and burnout reducing strategies while engaging in conversations throughout the days and nights was especially helpful. the evidenced based information was important to me. Nicole's leadership and teaching style was so calming and supportive and allowed us all to dig a little deeper and and discover where we can make changes that will support our practices.
I LOVED EVERYTHING! It was absolutely amazing. I loved that we showed up and were given a journal and book. It set the tone in the best way possible. The morning yoga sessions were PHENOMENAL. The discussions were so intimate and provided a personalized, judgement free zone to be truthful to oneself. It’s hard to be truthful to yourself, let alone a group, but this retreat made it possible. I wish it was longer than 48 hours!
I loved all of it: accommodations, group activities, the town itself, our lovely host! We had an excellent group.
Overall this was a great experience. What I will take home from this is a sense of peace, and the knowledge that I have additional tools to help me deal with the stress my workplace. Also, to be aware and grateful for many of the things that I have in my life and also in my work.
